Fast Growing Grass Seed Mixture
Inexpensive quick ground cover.  Recommended for areas where erosion control is the main concern.  The seeding rate can be reduced to 100 pounds per acre on sites which will not be mowed regularly.  Very quick establishment rate.

Seed Starters / Fall Fertilizers

Using a seed starter fertilizer is very important when seeding a new turf.  Young grass plants require more nutrients in the soil because they don't have a large root structure for up-taking the nutrients.  A 1-2-1 ratio fertilizer is recommended because phosphorus is needed for promoting root growth.  The nitrogen will help thicken the foliage quickly and the potassium will improve the plants stress tolerance.  We also recommend a second application about a month later to encourage a healthy thick turf that will withstand drought, disease and pest damage. 

The main goal of fertilizing in the Fall is to promote a healthy and strong root structure. During the growing season most of the nutrients goes toward leaf growth. Fertilizing after leaf growth has slowed down, forces the nutrients to promote a root growth instead of leaf growth. Root growth is the key to a healthy turf that can withstand grub and drought damage.

ProScape 16-25-12 with 45% Meth-Ex40
45% controlled release nitrogen from Meth-Ex40, a predictable and long lasting nitrogen source.  Superior to other starter fertilizers because controlled release nitrogen is available weeks after application for rapid development of new seedlings.  Economically smart! In 4 weeks sulfur coated urea nitrogen products have already leached through the soil, while Meth-Ex40 is still available for the slow germinating kentucky bluegrass seedlings.

About Meth-Ex40 controlled release nitrogen:
Meth-Ex40 breaks down by microbial activity, which allows the nitrogen to be available to the plant during periods of high turf demand, and conserves nitrogen when growing conditions are not ideal.  Less nitrogen is lost to leaching and volatilization for more consistent sustained feeding and less waste. Unlike sulfur coated urea product, Meth-Ex40 will not pre-maturely release in a hydro-seeding tank.

Turfgrass Maintenance Fertilizers

As the title states, these fertilizers are designed to maintain the health of your established turfgrass.  You can water your lawn all day long, but without regular fertilizing throughout the season your turf will never be the best that it can be. Nitrogen is the most important nutrient in a fertilizer for maintaining a healthy turf. Nitrogen moves through the soil quickly, therefore it is very common for nitrogen levels to be low.  Hence the importance of using a high quality slow release nitrogen like MESA or Meth-Ex40. In fact, we no longer sell sulfur coasted urea products due to their unpredictable performance. Potassium promotes plant stress tolerance and is the second most important nutrient in a maintenance fertilizer. Potassium will move through the soil but not as quickly as nitrogen.  Phosphorous promotes a healthy root structure but does not move though the soil quickly, therefore it is not as important in a maintenance fertilizer. Phosphorous levels are usually fine as long as you are applying a high phosphorous fertilizer every Fall.

For annual grassy weed control apply in April before the weed seeds germinate, usually before the forsythia blossoms drop. A dual application in early April and mid May can be applied to highly infested areas.  TEAM can not be used on new lawns.

Lebanon TUPERSAN 4.6%
A pre-emergent herbicide for the control of annual grassy weeds on newly seeded lawns. Controls Crabgrass, Foxtail, and Barnyard grass without harming newly seeded desirable grasses. Bringing in new topsoil or disturbing the native soil will force dormant weed seeds to the surface allowing them to germinate any time of the year. Therefore TUPERSAN can be used any time of year on a newly seeded lawn to reduce weed and crabgrass infestation.
